'Rad' (ラド Rado) is one of the characters in Mai-Otome.
In this series, Rad is a cyborg and member of the Aswad group. His human self is only seen through his younger photos, but appears in the prequel. While originally human, the disease from a malfunctioned weapon that plagued the Aswad progressed to a point where he had to have his nervous system and brain implanted in a cyborg to continue living. When the previous leader of the Aswad was still alive, he participated in the attack of Windbloom in cooperation with Schwarz. Although the other faction's objective was to assassinate the king, Aswad's objective was to retrieve something from underneath Fuuka Castle. He eventually came into conflict with the former Otome of Windbloom Lena Sayers and killed her. Despite her not being able to use her Otome powers anymore, he stated that she valiantly displayed her loyalty to her king and fought him bravely. He can summon a dog-like Slave similar to a Cerebrus and fights with a double-bladed spear.
In one episode, Yohko Helene looks at a photograph of herself and Midori that was taken when they were younger. Reito can be seen in it. She proceeds to call him Reito when they meet only to be told that he does not go by that name anymore, but rather the of the cyborg Rad.
Prior to the events in Mai Otome, it would seem that Reito had already met Lena Sayers, but only briefly. His brother Shiro had found Lena after her battle with M9 - a sister cyborg to Miyu. Since strong evidence supports that Shiro is the father of Arika, this would mean Rad is Arika Yumemiya's uncle.
